One exercise, whole body strength
Oh, how I love a push-up! So many muscles in your whole body have to work to do one. It's super efficient AND super functional, since it helps you push yourself up from the floor, push open a heavy door, and push your kid on the swing for the 400th time.
In case you don't believe me, here's the list:
Primary movers: pecs, anterior deltoids, and triceps
Shoulder stabilizers: rotator cuff, serratus anterior, rhomboids, and traps
Core: abs, erector spinae, and glutes to keep your hips and back straight
Legs: quads to keep your legs straight
So go ahead, name me a better exercise that hits a little bit of everything.
Modified push-ups are great for anyone with shoulder, elbow, or wrist pain, back pain, or a weak core. They're also an excellent way to start building strength at a level that fits your body if you're just getting started on a fitness journey.

Of course, if a regular push-up is tough for you, or you've tried these modifications and still struggle, you may need a more detailed evaluation by a physical therapist. Click Schedule Today to work with SparkPhysio to get started.
